Gabriel Milito Introduced as New Chivas Manager: “I Dream of Building a Great Team… and We Have Time”
Chivas has a new leader on the sidelines. On Monday, Gabriel Milito was officially unveiled as the new head coach of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, in a bold move by president Amaury Vergara to restore the club to its historic prominence.

The Argentine tactician wasted no time in laying out his ambitions: “We want to build a great team. With confidence, hard work, passion, and dreams, we’ll make it happen,” Milito said in his first press conference, while also asking for patience as he develops his project.
Early Impressions in Verde Valle
Milito, a former standout with clubs like Independiente, Real Zaragoza, and FC Barcelona, kicked off his tenure early at the team training complex in Verde Valle. On day one, he met the squad, interacted with club executives, and expressed his delight with the club facilities.
“I’m happy with what I’ve found here. This is a massive club not just in Mexico, but across Latin America. Its history and greatness convinced us to come,” he said in an interview with Chivas TV.
Fans Demand Immediate Results
While Milito believes time will be a key ally, the reality for Chivas fans is different. Supporters are eager for quick results after a disappointing stint under former manager Fernando Gago. Milito mission is clear: restore Chivas to title contention and bring joy back to their passionate fanbase.
“I’m excited for this opportunity. We have a solid preseason ahead, and I believe we can achieve great things,” added the 43 year old coach.
The Goal: Star Number 13
Milito will lead a squad that includes star names like Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Alan Pulido, Cade Cowell, Alan Mozo, and Luis Romo a strong blend of experience and youth that could help Chivas claim their long-awaited 13th league title.
The challenge is steep: surpass teams like Toluca, who recently clinched their 11th championship by defeating Club América in the Clausura 2025 final, and restore Chivas to the elite of Mexican football.
Is Milito the man to end Chivas title drought? Only time and results will tell.
