Tigres and Rayados Are Fighting for this Player from Atlético de Madrid and World Cup Champion with Argentina
The arrival of Ángel Correa to Liga MX is starting to take shape
Rarely in history has Liga MX been in a position to sign the '10' from Argentina. It’s not Leo Messi, nor Paulo Dybala, both absent due to injury in this FIFA Date. The name is Ángel Correa, forward for Atlético de Madrid and World Cup champion with Argentina in 2022, for whom Tigres and Rayados have started a battle to secure his signing.

Correa is popular in Liga MX
At 30 years old, this isn’t the first time Ángel Correa has been linked with a move away from Atlético de Madrid, where he arrived in 2015 from San Lorenzo and, although never a guaranteed starter, he has always been a special player for Simeone. The club values him that way, having stopped his departure during the last winter transfer market… despite offers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Mexico.
This summer, however, the situation is different. Correa will enter the last year of his contract, and Atlético de Madrid will consider offers to help finance the signing of another forward if, ultimately, Griezmann also departs. Correa himself is not unaware of this situation. In fact, it seems he would be willing to change scenery… and Liga MX is an attractive option for him.
Tigres president speaks about Correa
Recent reports from Mexico have highlighted strong interest from Tigres. Their president, Mauricio Culebro, in an interview with RÉCORD, hasn’t confirmed it… but he hasn’t denied it either: “He is a player with the characteristics, history, character, and many qualities we are looking for. Of course, both he and other players of that caliber will always be highly desirable.”
However, a few weeks before the Clásico de la Liga MX, Monterrey also entered the race to secure Correa: “Lately (with Rayados) we haven’t been after the same player, but that’s something that happens. We always try to do our best both on and off the field, and we know that even in negotiations, you have to compete,” said Mauricio Culebro.
