FROM EGYPT TO ARGENTINA: AN UNEXPECTED FOOTBALL JOURNEY

Born on April 1, 1995, Mokhtar originally dreamed of becoming a professional football star.

A former central defender who represented Egypt at youth international level, he pursued his career across several countries, including Portugal, Finland, Montenegro, the Czech Republic and the United States.

His ambition was to reach the English Premier League and play for Arsenal.

However, a serious knee injury forced him to retire at just 23 years old.

Instead of leaving football behind, Mokhtar reinvented himself.

He pursued coaching qualifications and developed an expertise in tactical analysis, video scouting and match preparation.

That decision would eventually take him thousands of miles from home.

THE EGYPTIAN CONNECTION THAT BROUGHT HIM TO BOCA JUNIORS

Mokhtar's relationship with Argentine coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena began at Pyramids FC in Egypt in 2020.

Already working within the Egyptian club's technical structure, Mokhtar impressed the former Boca Juniors defender with his tactical knowledge, communication skills and understanding of the game.

Their professional relationship continued with the United Arab Emirates national team during the qualification campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Later, they reunited at Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun.

When Arruabarrena returned to Boca Juniors in 2026, Mokhtar was among the trusted professionals selected to accompany him.

For the Egyptian coach, it represented a remarkable opportunity: joining one of South America's most successful and internationally recognized football institutions.

AN EGYPTIAN INSIDE LA BOMBONERA

At Boca Juniors, Mokhtar officially works as an assistant coach and analyst.

His role becomes particularly interesting ahead of the Superclásico.

Boca Juniors against River Plate is more than a football match. It is a rivalry defined by history, identity, passion and an extraordinary atmosphere that has fascinated football fans across generations.

On November 1, La Bombonera will once again become the center of attention as the two Buenos Aires giants face each other.

And for Mokhtar, who began his football journey in Cairo, being part of Boca's preparations represents another extraordinary chapter in his international career.

FROM THE MIDDLE EAST TO THE COPA SUDAMERICANA FINAL

The Egyptian's first season in Argentina has already delivered a major achievement.

Boca Juniors recently secured qualification for the 2026 Copa Sudamericana final after eliminating Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro.

The Argentine giants will now face Atlético Mineiro in Barranquilla, Colombia, on November 21.

But before that continental showdown, another challenge awaits Arruabarrena and his coaching staff: River Plate.

For Mokhtar, it is an opportunity to experience one of football's greatest rivalries from inside one of the sport's most iconic clubs.

From Cairo to Buenos Aires. From Pyramids FC to Boca Juniors. From Egyptian football to the Superclásico.

Amr Mokhtar's story is proof that football careers can take extraordinary and unexpected turns.

And this November, an Egyptian will be part of the team preparing for one of the biggest matches in world football.
