Olympique Lyon takes down Nice in Ligue 1
Two brilliant assists from Thiago Almada, finished off by Ryan Cherki and Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah, secured a 2-0 victory for Olympique Lyon at the Allianz Riviera against Nice. With this win, Lyon continues its strong run and moves closer to the European spots in Ligue 1.
A tough blow for Franck Haise's squad, as they had the chance to jump into second place—still held by Marseille despite their loss to Lens. Nice came into this match on fire, with four straight wins and six games unbeaten, but they couldn't seize the opportunity.
Game-changing substitutions
Under Paulo Fonseca, Lyon absorbed Nice's pressure and struck at the perfect moment. The introduction of Ryan Cherki in the 77th minute for Nemanja Matic, along with Ernest Nuamah replacing Malick Fofana earlier, proved decisive.

Lyon killed the game in just five minutes. In the 78th minute, Almada sliced a perfect pass to Cherki, who slotted it past Marcin Bulka to break the deadlock. Then, in the 83rd minute, another Almada assist set up Nuamah, who sealed the deal.
With this win, Lyon moves up to sixth place, just two points behind Lille (5th) and Monaco (4th)—the last Champions League spot. Meanwhile, Nice (3rd) stays three points behind Marseille (2nd) in a tight race at the top.
