The Race Heats Up for Ligue 1’s Final Champions League Spots
With only four matches remaining in the Ligue 1 season, the race for Champions League qualification is reaching a fever pitch. Just four points separate second-place Marseille (55 pts) from seventh-place Strasbourg (51 pts), setting the stage for a dramatic finale.
Marseille holds the edge and a calendar in their favor (Brest at home, Lille and Le Havre on the road, and Rennes at home). Lille vs Marseille might be their toughest match in this stretch. Monaco (54 pts) have a harder road ahead (they travel to Le Havre and a desperate Saint-Étienne, they then receive Lyon at home, and finish travelling to the north vs Lens).
Lille (53 pts) should have an easy win against Angers in their next fixture. But then, the following week, they face Marseille, which will be the decider. A direct clash with 2nd place. Win this and Lille may rocket into automatic UCL qualification if they also win against Brest at home and finally Reims away.

Lurking just outside the Champions League zone, Nice, Lyon, and Strasbourg are locked in a three-way chase at 51 points, praying the giants above trip over their own laces. But two of them—Nice and Strasbourg—have a mountain to climb: they still have to face the unbeaten beast that is PSG. And let’s be clear, Paris has no intention of surrendering its flawless record. The stakes? Sky high. With the finish line in sight, one wrong move could be the difference between hearing that iconic Champions League anthem… or just hearing your neighbors celebrate without you.
