Theo Bair: “My Biggest Dream Is to Go to The World Cup with Canada”
We spoke with Theo Bair about his adaptation process to Ligue 1, his relationship with Jonathan David, and what his goals are
After scoring 15 goals last season in the Scottish League and joining Canada for the Copa América, Theo Bair received the first big opportunity of his career. Many clubs showed interest in his services. However, he ultimately chose to sign with Auxerre. Today, on beINSPORTS, we talked about his adaptation process to Ligue 1 and, of course, what his goals are.

The historic mentor of Theo Bair at Auxerre
“At first, it was difficult. It’s obvious because if it were easy, I think everyone would do it. When I arrived here, there was an adaptation process. Everything is faster. But this period has already ended, and it’s time to show why I came to Auxerre.”
He also confessed that his mentor is a legend of Auxerre, who was internationally capped 41 times for France and won a Champions League with Liverpool: “There are many things that made me choose Auxerre. I had offers that gave me more money. But I thought this was the best opportunity for me. Djibril Cissé also insisted. He is my mentor, and little by little, you’ll see all the work we do on the field.”
Jonathan David’s advice to Theo Bair
Currently, many players born in Canada are playing in Ligue 1. One of the first to come was Jonathan David, to whom Theo Bair didn’t hesitate to ask for advice: “He’s one of the best strikers in the world. So knowing that a Canadian has managed to stand out here influenced my decision.”
Theo Bair will try to follow in Jonathan David’s footsteps to stand out in Ligue 1 and hopefully make it to the World Cup 2026 with Canada, his biggest career dream: “It’s funny because the other day I talked with my dad about this. Going to a World Cup is my biggest dream. I think we have the ability to do well, and I really want to be part of it.”
