Le Havre draw with Monaco deepens the Principality side’s winless streak
In a scrappy contest with few clear-cut chances, Le Havre and Monaco played out a draw that left contrasting feelings at the Stade Océane.
A low-key stalemate in Normandy
Le Havre and AS Monaco settled for a 0-0 draw at the Stade Océane in a match defined by limited attacking inspiration and physical wear. The result leaves the hosts on 20 points in 13th place, while Monaco extended their poor run to five consecutive Ligue 1 games without a win, sitting 10th with 24 points.
The contest never truly opened up, disrupted by stoppages, injuries and an uneven tempo that prevented either side from taking control.
A sluggish first half with little threat
The opening period set the tone for the afternoon: heavy midfield battles and very few genuine scoring opportunities. Monaco looked to dictate play through possession but struggled to turn control into real danger.
Their best efforts came from long-range attempts by Maghnes Akliouche and Folarin Balogun, both lacking accuracy. At the other end, Rassoul Ndiaye and Ali Samatta provided moments of promise for Le Havre, though neither truly tested Philipp Köhn.
Injuries and substitutions disrupt Monaco
The match was shaped by defensive setbacks for Monaco. Wout Faes was forced off with an ankle issue and replaced by Eric Dier, who himself later had to leave the pitch with discomfort, prompting another reshuffle at the back for Sébastien Pocognoli’s side.
Both managers turned to their benches after the break in search of solutions. Ansu Fati was introduced for Monaco, while Le Havre handed Sofiane Boufal his first minutes at the Stade Océane.
Isolated chances and late tension
The second half brought slightly more urgency but still no breakthrough. Denis Zakaria squandered Monaco’s clearest chance with a wayward effort from inside the box, while Vanderson came to the rescue by clearing a header off the line.
Late on, Le Havre pushed forward through set pieces, but Köhn stood firm to preserve the draw and prevent a defeat that would have further deepened Monaco’s struggles.
A point with different meanings
For Le Havre, the result represents another valuable home point and keeps them clear of immediate danger, even if consistency remains elusive. For Monaco, however, the warning signs continue to grow: five Ligue 1 matches without a win and a sense of a team searching for answers.
Pressure is beginning to mount in the Principality, while in Normandy, resilience proved enough on a night where survival was part of the plan.
