Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 Angers: Hosts confirm fourth straight Ligue 1 title in comfortable win
Paris Saint-Germain are Ligue 1 champions for the 13th time after beating Angers 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
Paris Saint-Germain beat Angers 1-0 at home on Saturday to secure a fourth straight Ligue 1 title and maintain their unbeaten league record this season.
The match itself was controlled in its entirety by PSG, having had 81.2% possession and 20 shots.
But despite their domination, the away side managed to hold them off during the first half after Goncalo Ramos and Vitinha both had chances to get their side ahead.
It was not until the 55th minute that Luis Enrique's side got ahead after Desire Doue volleyed home Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's cross.
The hosts continued to control the match after the goal and goalkeeper Yahia Fofana had to be on form to stop a Fabian Ruiz volley four minutes later.
Angers did have a penalty appeal with 12 minutes to go, though the on-field decision of no penalty was confirmed after a VAR check.
It was, in truth, a much more comfortable afternoon for PSG than the score would suggest. Having taken an unassailable lead at the top of the table, they can now switch focus to their Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa in midweek.
Data debrief: PSG coast to victory
While PSG managed to have 20 shots and six on target, visitors Angers failed to register a single effort on target.
The victory extended an unbeaten run of 37 unbeaten home games for PSG against promoted teams (W33 D4).
It was also PSG's ninth straight league win, which is their longest sequence of victories since September 2021.
The league title, meanwhile, is a record-extending 13th for PSG.
