Just three days after scoring a stunning goal in the freezing cold of Kansas City in the first leg of the ConcaChampions Round of 16, Messi will once again lead Inter Miami at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale against New York City, marking the start of the new MLS campaign. At 37 years old and with every possible title in his collection, the Argentine continues to find new motivations in the final stretch of his career.
Surrounded by close friends and former teammates like Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, the Rosario-born star enjoys a familiar environment in Miami. Inter Miami Seeks MLS Redemption
The Florida-based team is looking to bounce back after an up-and-down 2024 season. Despite winning the Supporters' Shield as the best team in the regular season, they suffered a painful first-round playoff elimination against Atlanta United. Additionally, Messi only played 21 league matches due to injuries and his participation in the Copa América, where he lifted the trophy with Argentina.
