Messi Has Needed 630 Days Since his Departure from PSG to Reach the Top of Inter Miami
Despite the draw against Toronto, Leo Messi became the player with the most goal contributions in MLS history for Inter Miami
Leo Messi continues to conquer America and has needed only 630 days since his time at PSG ended to reach the top of Inter Miami. With his goal in the draw against Toronto FC, Leo Messi surpassed his compatriot Gonzalo Higuaín and became the player with the most goal contributions in MLS history for Inter Miami, with a total of 44 goals.

Messi surpasses Higuaín with Inter Miami in MLS
Gonzalo Higuaín, who played for Inter Miami between September 2020 after finishing his contract with Juventus until January 2023 when he decided to retire from football, held this record with a total of 43 goals produced with Inter Miami in 67 MLS matches. Notable records, which, however, Leo Messi has quickly broken.
Since his arrival in July 2023, just a few months after Gonzalo Higuaín's retirement, Messi has only been able to play 32 matches with the Inter Miami shirt in MLS due to injuries. However, they have not been an obstacle to collecting this impressive record, which breaks down into 25 goals and 19 assists. These numbers place his goal contribution in MLS with Inter Miami at one goal/assist every 54 minutes.
Inter Miami, forced to come back against LAFC in ConcaChampions
Since the season began, Messi has scored or assisted in every match he has been able to play with Inter Miami in MLS. This time, however, his goal against Toronto was not enough to secure the victory after Federico Bernardeschi's goal. A result that, even with one match fewer, has dropped Inter Miami from the top spot in MLS in favor of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Inter Miami, unbeaten until a few days ago this season, will face doubts after this draw against Toronto in MLS as they try to come back against Los Angeles FC in the quarterfinals of the ConcaChampions following the 1-0 result of the first match, which has placed Javier Mascherano's team in a critical situation. To date, this is the only match where Messi has failed to score or assist. LAFC, however, is also not in a much better situation after suffering their fourth loss of the season in MLS to Houston Dynamo.
