MLS Trying To Convince Pogba… and It’s Not Inter Miami
Ben Jacobs reported that D.C. United has been negotiating for months to bring in Paul Pogba as their designated player
Working quietly, waiting for the opportunity that best fits his desires—that’s the current situation of Paul Pogba since his doping suspension was lifted this past March. The suspension had kept him off the field since September 2023. Since then, there has been much speculation about his future. However, it seems MLS is trying to convince him… and it might not be Inter Miami.

Pogba's priority
A few weeks ago, Paul Pogba gave an interview to GQ magazine, where he updated his plans for the near future—especially after rumors of a possible retirement. “I never imagined I’d be a free agent at this point in my career. There are offers. They’re coming from everywhere. I want to see what suits me best. I’m at a decisive moment in my life and in my career. It’s a decision I’m going to take time to weigh carefully,” confessed the talented French midfielder.
According to reports from Sky Germany, Paul Pogba's top priority was to stay in Europe, ideally trying a new experience in one of the five major leagues where he hasn’t yet played. In fact, everything seemed to indicate that the club pushing hardest to sign Pogba was Olympique de Marseille. Their president, Pablo Longoria, even acknowledged contact… while Derek Cornelius told BeINSPORTS in an interview that he’d love to have him as a teammate.
D.C. United eyes Pogba
However, it seems Paul Pogba's initial plans aren't unfolding as expected… and he’s beginning to consider more exotic options to continue his career. Now based in Miami, he’s been strongly linked with Inter Miami due to his close relationship with David Beckham. However, Ben Jacobs has reported that the club pushing hardest to sign Pogba is D.C. United.
They’re far from being one of the top projects in MLS—in fact, they’re currently near the bottom of the standings. Still, they’re one of the few teams that currently have a designated player spot available. At the moment, only Christian Benteke and Mateusz Klich hold that status. However, it’s unclear whether Pogba is convinced about joining the project offered by D.C. United, and for now, he’ll try to exhaust his options to revive his career in Europe.
