A modern classic between stars
It’s become a summer tradition on the football calendar: MLS and Liga MX face off in a star-studded showdown that keeps raising the level and the excitement every year. Since 2021, the All-Star Game has featured the best from each league, and the 2025 edition—its fourth—comes with a thirst for revenge after Liga MX’s 4-1 rout last year.
Beyond the on-field rivalry, the event also features the Skills Challenge, a unique showcase where players from both leagues test their talents in exercises blending precision, technique, and showmanship. Everything’s set for another North American football fiesta.
When and where is the 2025 All-Star Game?
The 2025 All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 23, at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, kicking off at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET. It marks the first time this marquee MLS event is held in Austin, adding a new city to the list of epic All-Star showdowns.
Days before, the MLS NEXT All-Star Game will be played on Monday, followed by the Skills Challenge on Tuesday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET. Three days of pure entertainment.
MLS All-Star Team Roster
The squad, coached by Nico Estévez (Austin FC), brings together big names and breakout stars. Based on fan voting, coach selections, and Commissioner Don Garber’s picks, the lineup features:
- Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Denis Bouanga, and Brian White as fan-voted forwards.
- Reinforcements like Chucky Lozano (San Diego FC), chosen by the Commissioner.
- Goalkeepers such as Dayne St. Clair, Brad Stuver, and Yohei Takaoka.
- Defenders like Michael Boxall, Tristan Blackmon, and Kai Wagner, the latter replacing an injured player.
- In midfield, talents like Carles Gil, Diego Luna, Evander, and Mukhtar set the tempo.
With 26 players total, the squad blends experience, youth, and global star power.
Liga MX All-Star Team Roster
Coached by André Jardine (Club América), the Liga MX squad features 29 players, including international stars and top domestic performers. The selection includes Ballon d’Or nominees, picks by the coach, and a final addition from league president Mikel Arriola.
- Standouts include Sergio Ramos (Monterrey), James Rodríguez (León), Henry Martín, Carlos Rotondi, and Juan Brunetta.
- Between the posts, Luis Malagón and Kevin Mier lead the charge.
- Defenders like Willer Ditta, Jesús Gallardo, and Sebastián Cáceres add strength in the back.
- The attack is rounded out by Paulinho, Alexis Vega, Brian Rodríguez, and Diber Cambindo.
América, Cruz Azul, and Toluca lead the way in player contributions, highlighting the dominance of capital-based clubs.
