Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa: Round 30: Lech humiliate Legia, Górnik win in Białystok
Lech dominate Legia in a stunning 4-0 classic, while Górnik steal a last-minute victory to shake up the title race. Here’s everything you need to know from Ekstraklasa Round 30.
Round 30 Wrap-up:
- 25 goals scored (2.77/game). 3 wins for the home teams, 4 for the visitors, 2 ties.
- Górnik Zabrze extended their unbeaten run to 7 games after a dramatic 2:1 victory in Białystok. The Miners lead was erased in the 4th minute of extra time when Afimico Pululu scored his 12th of the season. 4 minutes later Rafał Janicki converted a penalty kick and gave the Silesian side a crucial win. Górnik now sit second in the standings and have a 3 point cushion over Jagiellonia and Rakow.
- The team from Częstochowa (unbeaten in last 5) came back to also register a 2:1 result away from home. In this game Tomas Bobcek scored his 16th of the season for Lechia Gdańsk and Jonatan Brunes (only one strike behind the Slovakian international) delivered a game winner in the 3rd minute of extra time.
- Radomiak won their second straight, Termalica are not done yet (they beat Zagłębie in Lubin 2:1), Piast scored 4 goals for the second time this season. Motor, Korona and Cracovia are all winless in 4.
Lech Crushes Legia
In one of the biggest Polish classics Lech Poznań hosted Legia Warszawa. Marek Papszun’s side traveled to Bułgarska riding a 10-game unbeaten streak, but the defending champions showed The Army Men no mercy, delivering a historic 4:0 victory. All goals were scored in the first half. Lech found themselves on the board with only 3. minutes in after a wonder strike by the Iranian international Ali Golizadeh. The flood gates were opened after Legia’s Rafał Augustyniak saw red in minute 20. A double by Mikael Ishak and a first career goal for Michał Gurgul had over 40,000 home fans go absolutely crazy. The second half saw a few missed chances, but no change in score. 4-0 is the biggest margin of victory for Lech in their encounters against their most heated rival.
Made in USA
In Kraków Cracovia tried to stop the 4-game winless streak under the new manager Bartosz Grzelak. They faced Pogoń Szczecin, which were looking for their third away win in 2026. In this tightly contested game, which ended with a 1:1 tie, both goals were… made in USA. The visitors took the lead in 18th minute thanks to a strike by Kellyn Acosta. It was the first goal in Ekstraklasa for the former USMNT player, who - before Pogoń - spent all his time in MLS (played for FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids, LAFC and Chicago Fire). The hosts equalized deep into injury time. Mateusz Klich (ex-DC United and Atlanta United) sent the ball into the box where Kahveh Zahiroreslam headed it home. For the 23-year old Californian, who played for the Yale University Bulldogs (2021-22), it was the second tally in Cracovia uniform.

What’s ahead in Round 31?
This round will feature only 7 fixtures. Polish federation postponed games between Arka Gdynia - Górnik Zabrze and Raków Częstochowa - Jagiellonia Białystok to May 13th due to Górnik and Raków facing each other in the Polish Cup final on May 2nd.
After suffering a heavy 0:4 defeat in Poznań, Legia Warszawa will try to find their winning ways in a crucial battle against Widzew Łódź at home. This epic Polish classic used to decide championships, but now both teams are desperately fighting against relegation. 3 points for the Army Men will give them a bit of breathing room with only 3 rounds left.
In Lublin two of the top Ekstraklasa strikers will square against each other. Motor’s Karol Czubak co-leads the league with 16 goals, but Lech’s Mikael Ishak - fresh off a double vs Legia Warszawa - is only one tally away.
