Both Manchester City and Erling Haaland surprised the world this Friday with the announcement of his historic contract renewal until 2034.

A nine-and-a-half-year extension that sees the Norwegian striker commit to the Cityzens for nearly the entirety of his playing career. Such a milestone could not be announced in just any way.

Haaland took the first step with a video on his social media. In a snowy, cold setting, the Norwegian appears semi-naked in the pose he made famous during his celebrations, meditating. "Here to stay," he says at the end, looking into the camera.

The post was followed by Manchester City’s response, and from there, a cascade of messages from the club began. The official renewal announcement was followed by several photos with the signature and the iconic 2034 jersey.

One of the most striking videos showed Haaland writing a letter to Premier League defenders. In the letter, he ends up apologizing to them because he's staying, and that’s not good news for them.

For Manchester City, Haaland's continued stay until 2034 will be a big boost. The Skyblues will continue to enjoy his power and goals, and there's no doubt many more are on the way.
