A Fan Recounts the Horrific Moment During the Liverpool Celebration Tragedy
What was meant to be a festive day for Liverpool fans turned into a scene of chaos and terror after a vehicle plowed into dozens of people during the parade celebrating the team season.

The incident took place on Water Street, one of the busiest areas in the city center, where thousands of fans had gathered to enjoy the football celebration with their families. Among them was Harry Rashid, 48, from Solihull, who witnessed the moment of the crash while attending the event with his wife and two young daughters. He recounted the experience for the British newspaper "The Mirror".
“It all happened in seconds”
“We were less than ten feet away from the car when it happened,” Rashid told local media. “The street was very narrow, we were trapped in the crowd. Suddenly, a gray vehicle appeared on our right, just beside a parked ambulance, and drove straight into the fans.”
The witness described how the driver, after stopping for a few seconds, accelerated again toward the crowd: “He stayed still for about 10 seconds. Then people behind tried to approach and break the car windows, but the driver hit the accelerator and ran over more people. It was terrible. We could hear the thuds of bodies against the car. It felt completely intentional.”
From jubilation to fear
The excitement over the parade vanished instantly. “My daughter started screaming. There were people on the ground, unconscious. It was a horrific scene,” Rashid said, his voice trembling. “We just wanted to see our team, to be together as a family. There were thousands of us celebrating. No one imagined something like this could happen.”
Emergency services responded quickly. One ambulance was already on-site, and others arrived “within seconds,” according to witnesses. However, the large crowd made it difficult for medics to reach the injured.

Police confirm the suspect arrest
Merseyside Police later confirmed that a man had been arrested in connection with the attack. In an official statement, the force urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.
“The suspect is a 53-year-old white British male, a resident of Liverpool,” a spokesperson said. “Extensive inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this serious incident.”
An unimaginable end to the Red celebration
The parade, meant to celebrate the bond between the club and its fans, was overshadowed by a tragic event that shocked the entire football community. The passion for the game once again brought thousands to the streets, but this time, joy was replaced by disbelief and sorrow.
