Erling Haaland Out for the Season with Injury – Will He Miss the Club World Cup?
Bad news for Manchester City. Erling Haaland is set for an indefinite spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in the FA Cup win against Bournemouth. The Norwegian striker picked up a knock on his left ankle during the match, where he scored a goal but also missed a penalty. Shortly after, he was subbed off and later seen leaving the stadium on crutches, raising concerns within the club.
In an official statement, Manchester City confirmed that Haaland underwent medical tests, but the full extent of his injury is still unclear. “Erling will consult a specialist to determine the severity of the injury. The hope is that he can return before the end of the season, including the UEFA Club World Cup,” the club stated.
A Setback at a Crucial Time
With their Champions League campaign over and the Premier League title looking out of reach, Manchester City is now focusing on the FA Cup, where they face Nottingham Forest in the semifinals, and the Club World Cup, which could be Haaland’s last chance to play this season.
The Norwegian striker has been a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring 30 goals in 40 games this season. Now, all eyes are on his recovery and whether he’ll be fit in time for the international tournament.
