Guardiola: The Culprit Behind Manchester City's Crisis?
Former coach Fabio Capello has not held back when discussing Manchester City's struggles. According to the Italian, Pep Guardiola bears much of the responsibility for the worst run of form in his tenure, with only one win in their last ten matches across all competitions, including seven losses and two draws.
Capello, who managed clubs such as Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, and AS Roma, shared his thoughts on Sky Sport Italia, stating that Guardiola’s attitude has been a key factor. "Guardiola is a great coach, but he is too arrogant and presumptuous. He has lost trophies because he wanted to prove that he was the one winning and not the players, leaving key figures out of crucial matches," he said.
Capello didn’t stop at criticizing Guardiola but also took aim at Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ederson. "Ederson is a disaster," the former coach bluntly stated. According to Capello, Guardiola's strategy of constantly trying to be the center of attention and the driving force behind the team's success has negatively impacted their collective performance.
An unprecedented crisis
The current situation represents the biggest crisis Guardiola has faced in his coaching career. Despite his illustrious record, the Spanish manager seems to be struggling to find solutions in the midst of this storm. However, Capello's harsh words are unlikely to ease tensions within the “Sky Blues” as they search for a way to turn things around.
For now, Guardiola must face both external and internal criticism as he works to pull the team out of this slump and maintain his reputation as one of the best coaches in the world.
