More problems for Guardiola at City: Nathan Aké suffers a foot fracture
Manchester City suffers another defensive setback. Nathan Aké, the Dutch defender of Pep Guardiola's team, has undergone surgery after fracturing his foot. The injury occurred during the 'Citizens' 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup last weekend.
Aké left the field at halftime and confirmed on Tuesday via his social media that he had undergone surgery to treat the fracture, an issue that had been bothering him for months. "This has been a very frustrating season for me, but now I have successfully undergone surgery, and I am positive about the future," the defender stated.
Aké's season has been plagued by physical problems, limiting him to 18 appearances for Manchester City so far this campaign. His absence presents another headache for Guardiola, who is already dealing with other defensive injuries, such as John Stones and Manuel Akanji, who also missed the latest cup match.
With elimination from the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, Manchester City is now focusing on two fronts: progressing in the FA Cup, where they will face Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth in the quarter-finals, and securing a spot in next season's Champions League.
