Arteta on Arsenal's title hunt: Nobody more motivated than me
Arsenal are chasing their first Premier League title since 2004, and manager Mikel Arteta insists nobody is more motivated than he is.
Mikel Arteta is adamant that nobody is more motivated than he is to end Arsenal's wait for a Premier League title.
The Gunners go into the weekend with a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League, though that gap may be cut to four by the time Arsenal host Manchester United on Sunday.
Arsenal have not won the league since 2004, when they famously did so without losing a game under Arsene Wenger.
Arteta, meanwhile, has won just one trophy – the FA Cup in 2020 – since taking charge of the Gunners over six years ago.
"I don't think anybody has more motivation, more hunger, more desire for us to go all the way and win it [than me]," said Arteta, whose team are assigned a 93.1% chance of clinching the title, according to the Opta supercomputer.
"But we know that the only way to do it is to focus, be present in the moment, and everything that we have done today, do it better tomorrow.
"That's it, and that's the only thing that we can control. The rest doesn't add any value to us, and it can take our focus to the wrong place."
Arsenal are not just top of the Premier League, but they also lead the way in the Champions League.
They are guaranteed to finish in the top two of the 36-team standings in the league phase.
