Dominik Livakovic has arrived in Barcelona to undergo his medical examination as the club decides his role for the new season. The Catalan side are considering signing him as Joan García's backup, with Wojciech Szczęsny potentially moving into the third-choice role.
Livakovic, a full Croatia international and current Fenerbahçe goalkeeper, has emerged as one of Barcelona's leading options. The transfer is expected to cost between €4 million and €5 million.
The main issue for Barcelona is deciding the goalkeeper's role. The club are considering bringing him in as the second-choice goalkeeper ahead of Wojciech Szczęsny, who still has one year remaining on his contract.
Under that scenario, Joan García would become the first-choice goalkeeper, Livakovic would serve as his main backup and Szczęsny would move into the third-choice position. Reports suggest that the Polish goalkeeper would not be particularly concerned about taking on that role.
