Erling Haaland is to see a specialist to ascertain the extent of his ankle injury, Manchester City have confirmed.

The Norway striker scored City's equaliser in the comeback 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

However, Haaland – who had earlier seen a penalty saved – was substituted in the 61st minute after injuring his left ankle.

Haaland, 24, was later seen leaving the ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

City released a statement on Monday saying they hope to have Haaland available before the end of the season and for the Club World Cup.

The statement read: "Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle.

"The Norwegian striker sustained the injury during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory away at AFC Bournemouth.

"Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury.

"Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup."
