Mohamed Salah has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new contract with Liverpool.

The Egyptian, whose existing deal was set to expire at the end of this season, has put pen to paper on fresh terms at Anfield.

He had been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, having suggested on several occasions that his time on Merseyside could be nearing an end.

But while Liverpool look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer to Real Madrid, their talismanic forward is staying put, while the club are reportedly close to an agreement with Virgil van Dijk, too.

Salah is enjoying a superb individual campaign, and is playing a key role in Liverpool's procession to the Premier League title under Arne Slot.

Here, we assess some of the key numbers behind his Reds stint so far.

A club great

Salah has enjoyed eight memorable years with Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2017.

The forward has become the Reds' third-leading scorer of all time with 243 goals in 394 appearances; a tally only bettered by Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).

Salah also played a key role in Liverpool's Champions League and Premier League triumphs in 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively, two of eight trophies he has won with the club.

He has also won the EFL Cup on two occasions and the FA Cup once, as well as the Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Salah scored 32 goals and provided 10 assists in his debut campaign in the Premier League – following his spectacular run of form in 2024-25, he is the only player in the competition's history to record 40 or more goal involvements in two separate seasons.

The 32-year-old has never had fewer than 27 goal involvements in a single Premier League season, with his 2024-25 exploits ensuring he has surpassed Thierry Henry's record of seven straight campaigns with 25 or more goal involvements, set between 1999-00 and 2005-05, outright (now eight in a row for Salah).

In 2023-24, he had his worst scoring season with Liverpool, netting 18 Premier League goals as they finished third in Jurgen Klopp's final campaign in charge.

Getting better with age?

Salah is the Premier League's top scorer this season with 27 goals, also supplying a league-high 17 assists.

His 44 league goal involvements in 2024-25 is the joint-most by a single player in a 38-game season in the competition, along with Henry (2002-03) and Erling Haaland (2022-23).With seven games remaining, it appears almost certain Salah will overcome the single-season record of 47, held jointly by Andy Cole (for Newcastle United in 1993-94) and Alan Shearer (for Blackburn Rovers in 1994-95).

In fact, Salah is averaging 1.44 goal involvements per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, the most of any player in a single Premier League season (minimum 1,000 minutes played).

This new contract means Salah is surely set to also become the Premier League player with the most goals and assists for one club. 

He is on 267 as it stands, four behind second-place Ryan Giggs (271) and just nine off Wayne Rooney's competition record of 276.

Salah is fifth on the all-time list for goals and assists in the Premier League, with 270. Alan Shearer holds that record, with 324, so there is still some way to go.

A recent dry patch means Salah has fallen a bit off the pace when it comes to matching Haaland's single-season goals record of 36, though with some favourable fixtures coming up, it is a haul that is still in his sights.

Salah is also hoping to claim the record for most assists in a season in the competition – jointly held by Henry in 2002-03 and Kevin De Bruyne in 2019-20.

That pair teed up 20 goals apiece in their respective campaigns.

All 20 assists recorded by Henry in 2002-03 came from open play, and Salah could also surpass that mark in the season's closing weeks.

Salah's next assist away from home, meanwhile, will see him surpass Cesc Fabregas outright for the most goals teed up on the road in a Premier League season.

Salah only needs one more away goal before the end of 2024-25 to go clear of Kevin Phillips in 1999-00 and Harry Kane in 2022-23 (both 16 away goals) for that single-season record, too.

Not that his excellent form has only been limited to the Premier League. Salah has 54 goals and assists across all competitions this term, six more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.
