'We came here to win' – Pereira hails Wolves' bravery after Ipswich turnaround
Wolves have won three straight games to pull clear of the relegation battle, with Ipswich Town surely destined for a Championship return.
Vitor Pereira praised his Wolves players for refusing to settle for a draw after they pushed Ipswich Town to the brink of relegation with Saturday's fightback at Portman Road.
Ipswich looked set to pull within six points of Wolves when Liam Delap put them ahead against the run of play in the first half.
But Wolves continued to pen their hosts back in the second half, and goals from Pablo Sarabia and Jorgen Strand Larsen sealed a memorable comeback win.
Wolves are now 12 points clear of Ipswich with a far superior goal difference, with the Tractor Boys appearing destined for an instant return to the Championship.
Pereira has overseen a remarkable upturn for Wolves since taking over in December. Since his first match in charge, a 3-0 win at Leicester City on December 22, they have taken 23 points from 15 matches.
That puts them eighth in the league during that span, having been 19th and in danger of being cut adrift when former boss Gary O'Neil was sacked.
"I don't know if it is guaranteed safety, but we will try to win the next game. We have a good team, personality, character, and we are connected with the supporters," Pereira told BBC Sport.
"Our pressure is the pressure we put on ourselves. At the end of the game, we need to feel we did our work.
"I'm very happy for the club, the supporters and the team because we deserved it. They scored first, but we had some chances.
"We came here to win. It's not time to wait, it's time to play, press them and win the game.
"I don't care if we lose, I just want my team pressing and putting more pace on the ball and changing one or two things."
Wolves have won three consecutive matches in the Premier League for the first time since December 2023, despite star forward Matheus Cunha being suspended.
And Pereira feels Cunha's replacement in his starting XI, January arrival Marshall Munetsi, is responsible for bringing more out of Strand Larsen.
"If you look at the game, Strand Larsen is getting better because he’s more adapted to the Premier League," Pereira said.
"Now Munetsi is playing close to him, creating spaces, attacking spaces every time, supporting the first ball.
"What we felt before was that when Larsen received the first ball, the man close to him to offer support was not there."
Strand Larsen has been playing with a fractured hand but has four goals in his last three Premier League games – as many as he scored in his previous 18.
Asked if he was worried about exacerbating his injury in Wolves' wild celebrations, the Norwegian said: "I couldn't care less about that. The doctor will say: 'You have to be careful!' We went nuts celebrating with the fans; it was amazing."
