AS Roma Looking to Delay Leandro Paredes' Move to Boca Juniors
After renewing Italian midfielder Niccolò Pisilli, AS Roma is now working on extending the contract of Argentine Leandro Paredes, who was recently linked with a move to Boca Juniors in the transfer market.
A Growing Sporting Project
In the midst of a strong push for European qualification and an impressive 2025, remaining unbeaten in Serie A since December 15, Roma is focused on strengthening its sporting project. Last week, the club announced the renewal of one of its academy players, and soon, it plans to do the same with Paredes, whose contract runs until June 2026.
"Paredes and Svilar (goalkeeper) are also part of the team’s future. We are working on their renewals step by step," said the club’s sporting director, Florient Ghisolfi, in an interview with Sky Sports Italia on Sunday.
Paredes’ Current Situation at Roma
The 30-year-old Argentine midfielder and 2022 World Cup champion has faced the challenges of an unstable season, playing under three different coaches. He was a starter under Daniele De Rossi, lost his place under Ivan Jurić, and has now regained importance in Claudio Ranieri’s system.
During the last transfer window, Paredes was linked with a return to Boca Juniors, where he played between 2012 and 2014, but he ultimately stayed at Roma, where he shares the dressing room with fellow Argentinians Paulo Dybala and Matías Soulé.
