Is Paulo Dybala's Future in Spain?
Paulo Dybala admitted he would like to play in La Liga
Only his constant physical issues could explain how a player of Paulo Dybala's caliber is playing in the Europa League with Roma… and is not living glorious nights in the Champions League. However, his future is more uncertain than ever, and it’s not the first time his name has been linked with a move to Spain.

"I've always wanted to play in La Liga"
The alarms went off again when, ahead of the Europa League round of 16 between Roma and Athletic Club, Paulo Dybala gave an interview to MARCA in which he admitted that he is a big admirer of La Liga and, especially, that he has always wanted to play in Spain. A clear statement of intent.
"La Liga is great, I watch it a lot on TV. It's a very beautiful and competitive league. This year it’s very exciting and hard-fought between Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid," confessed Dybala, who added, "I've always wanted to play there. But I’ve been in Italy for many years now. You never know what could happen in the future."
Dybala renewed with Roma in January
A final, striking phrase that, a few days before visiting Spain to play against Athletic Club, opens the doors to a potential change of destination in the not-so-distant future. In Roma, they are the first to acknowledge how fortunate they are to have Paulo Dybala. "I'm happy to have him. If he doesn’t want to stay, we have to accept that. But I haven’t sensed any displeasure from Dybala," said Ranieri a few weeks ago.
It’s worth remembering that Paulo Dybala’s current contract with Roma was automatically renewed last January until June 2026. However, it still includes a release clause of 12 million euros for all teams outside Serie A. An amount that many clubs could afford… like Atlético de Madrid, with whom Dybala has always been linked.
