Juventus Parts Ways with Thiago Motta and Announces New Head Coach
Juventus has officially parted ways with Thiago Motta as head coach and announced the appointment of Croatian manager Igor Tudor, who will take over from this Sunday until the end of the season.
"Juventus announces that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the men's first team. The club thanks Thiago Motta and his staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past months and wishes them the best in their future endeavors," read the club’s official statement. It was also confirmed that Tudor will lead his first training session on Monday, March 24.
A Short Spell and a New Challenge
Motta, who had an impressive playing career with clubs like Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Genoa, Inter, and Paris Saint-Germain, joined Juventus on June 30 after guiding Bologna to Champions League qualification. However, the season has fallen short of expectations, with the team struggling to compete for the Serie A title and facing an uphill battle to meet its objectives.
Now, Igor Tudor, who previously served as an assistant at Juventus in 2020, returns to the club with the task of securing a Champions League spot. With coaching experience at clubs like Udinese, Verona, Marseille, and Lazio, the Croatian coach aims to revitalize the team for the final stretch of the season.
