Tudor not worried by Juve's defence despite Inter and Dortmund thrillers
Juventus will be hoping for a more straightforward affair this weekend when they make the trip to face Hellas Verona in Serie A.
Igor Tudor is not concerned about his Juventus defence despite the Bianconeri conceding seven goals across their last two games.
Juventus maintained their perfect start to the Serie A campaign, edging a seven-goal thriller with fellow title hopefuls Inter 4-3 thanks to Vasilije Adzic's stoppage-time stunner.
Tudor's team were then staring down the barrel of a first defeat of the season in their Champions League opener versus Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Stadium in midweek.
Dortmund found themselves 4-2 to the good in the 86th minute, only for Dusan Vlahovic and Lloyd Kelly to rescue a point in the dying embers of an enthralling European clash.
It was just the second fixture to see as many as eight goals scored in a half in Champions League history, after Bayern Munich 9-2 Dinamo Zagreb in September last season.
"Two matches are behind us and forgotten. The focus is entirely on the next game; there are no excuses. We need to play a great, serious match," Tudor told reporters as he previewed Saturday's trip to Hellas Verona.
“If we play at 100% and we impose ourselves, we can win. If we drop to 90%, we struggle. We need an extraordinary performance to achieve what we want, with no excuses.
"When we talk about goals conceded, you need to look at the context. If it ends 4-4 or 4-3, it’s a different concept than 3-0. There's no point in overanalysing.
"We need to understand the meaning of the match. A 4-3 win against Inter is great; a 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund is good. They are two top-level European sides."
Given Juventus' recent vulnerability at the back, many supporters have questioned Michele Di Gregorio's position between the sticks for the Serie A giants.
But ahead of the trip to the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi, Tudor further reiterated his trust in his number one goalkeeper.
"There's no rotation. Di Gregorio is a really good goalkeeper. He's made almost no mistakes," Tudor added.
"He will be the first-choice keeper all year because he's strong. I watch a lot of matches, and in every game I see goalkeepers making mistakes.
"I don't see those mistakes from my goalkeeper. I'm very happy with him. Out of the seven goals conceded, Di Gregorio was only slightly involved in one."
Tudor was also on hand to discuss Vlahovic's start to the campaign, with his strike against Dortmund his fourth goal from the substitutes bench in 2025-26.
The Serbian has six goals in seven games across all competitions this season, a total only bettered by eight players across Europe's top five leagues.
Vlahovic was linked with a move away from Turin over the summer, though Tudor believes his striker has regained his focus at a crucial time.
"He's less worried and more focused. That's important for him; being clear-headed about what he has to do, when he's like that, is an essential detail for him," Tudor said.
Hellas Verona – Geovane
Hellas Verona have managed just one goal in their opening three games of the season, and will need summer signing Geovane to try and break his duck in Serie A.
The Brazilian has attempted the most shots, both in total (14) and on target (eight) without scoring this season in the top five European leagues. However, these shots have registered an overall expected goals (xG) value of only 0.84.
Juventus – Kenan Yildiz
Yildiz has scored nine goals in 2025 for Juventus in all competitions, one more than he had scored in the previous two calendar years combined for the Bianconeri (eight - seven in 2024 and one in 2023), and he will be out to continue his fine form here.
Indeed, after finding the back of the net in Juventus' thrilling win against Inter, the Turkiye international could score in back-to-back Serie A appearances for the first time.
All five Yildiz's goals in the top-flight in 2025 have come in the first half, with only Scott McTominay and Mateo Retegui (both seven) scoring more often in the opening 45 minutes of a Serie A match this year.
MATCH PREDICTION: JUVENTUS WIN
Juventus have won six of their last seven league matches against Hellas Verona (D1), keeping six clean sheets in the process with a 12-2 combined scoreline.
They have opened their 2025-26 Serie A season with three straight victories, the first time they had done so since 2018-19. Indeed, they have won each of their last five matches in the top-flight, last achieving six consecutive triumphs under Massimiliano Allegri between October 2022 and January 2023.
The Bianconeri's start has been helped by everyone chipping in with goals. No team has had more different players score than Juventus in Serie A this season (six, level with Inter).
Verona have, however, won 12 of their 34 home games against Juventus in Serie A (D12 L10), their joint-most home wins against any opponent in the competition (12 also against Napoli and Sampdoria).
Only against Bologna (13) have Verona drawn more home games than against Juventus (12, equal with Roma) in the top-flight, though their form at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi has left a lot to be desired of late.
They have won just one of their last 14 home league games (D6 L7). However, Verona have drawn five of their last six games at the Bentegodi (L1), including their last three.
The last time they recorded four consecutive home draws in Serie A dates back to the period between December 1982 and February 1983, under Osvaldo Bagnoli.
