Álvaro Morata Nears Move to Galatasaray
The Spanish striker Álvaro Morata, recent Euro 2024 champion with Spain, is set to leave AC Milan in the coming hours to join Galatasaray, as reported by local media this Thursday.
Santiago Giménez’s Arrival Opens the Door for Morata
With six goals in 24 matches wearing the Rossoneri jersey, Morata's future in Milan is more uncertain than ever. The expected arrival of Mexican striker Santiago Giménez from Feyenoord has paved the way for the Spaniard’s exit, which, according to Italian sources, is imminent.
The deal is still being negotiated, with multiple options on the table, including a loan or a permanent transfer. Morata is under contract with Milan until 2028, but the club’s instability—having already changed coaches twice this season—and the potential signing of another forward as the new focal point of the attack have influenced his possible departure.
Milan paid approximately 13 million euros for the Spain captain following their Euro 2024 triumph, meaning the transfer fee for his move to Galatasaray is expected to be in a similar range.
A two-time UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup winner with Real Madrid, Morata has also claimed two Serie A titles with Juventus and earned major honors with Spain, including the 2023 UEFA Nations League and Euro 2024.
For now, Milan faces additional challenges due to Giménez’s injury, which could leave them without a starting striker for Sunday’s highly anticipated Derby della Madonnina against Inter Milan. If the Mexican forward is unavailable, Tammy Abraham could take center stage in the crucial matchup.
