Besiktas snatch a draw away at Kasimpasa in the Süper Lig
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas managed to grab a crucial point on the road against Kasimpasa in Matchday 30 of the Süper Lig. After going behind early, the Black Eagles came back to level the match 1-1 thanks to a last-minute penalty from Gedson Fernandes. The home side had taken the lead through Ben Ouanes.
The first half was evenly matched in terms of possession, but Kasimpasa were sharper in attack. Out of their five shots, it only took one to break the deadlock — Ben Ouanes struck in the 14th minute to put the hosts ahead going into the break.
Late drama in Istanbul
Things turned around in the second half at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium. Besiktas came out much more aggressive, pushing higher up the pitch and creating several chances. Solskjaer’s men kept knocking on the door, racking up six shots in the second half alone.
Their persistence paid off right at the death. In the 90th minute, after a foul in the box, Gedson Fernandes stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to seal the 1-1 draw — sparing his team from defeat and grabbing a hard-earned point away from home.
Besiktas still chasing European spots
The draw keeps Besiktas in the European race, sitting fourth in the table with 48 points. They're still pushing for third place with a few rounds left to play. As for Kasimpasa, they drop to ninth with 39 points, slipping further away from continental competition contention.
