Galatasaray Defeats Konyaspor with a Narrow 1-0 Victory
Despite several chances and some close calls, no other goals were scored, and the hosts walked away with three points.
In the 21st week of the Süper Lig, Galatasaray secured a hard-fought 1-0 win at home against Tümosan Konyaspor. The only goal of the match came in the 22nd minute, thanks to a penalty converted by Victor Osimhen.
A Key Penalty from Osimhen
The match's turning point came early, as Galatasaray was awarded a penalty after a VAR review. In the 18th minute, Adil Demirbağ fouled Osimhen inside the box, and after consulting the video assistant referee, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Osimhen stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past Konyaspor goalkeeper Slowik to put his side ahead 1-0.
After the penalty, Galatasaray kept up the pressure, with Osimhen having two more goals disallowed for offside. Konyaspor, meanwhile, struggled to create significant chances throughout the match.
Missed Opportunities and Solid Defense
In the second half, Galatasaray looked for a second goal to secure the win, with Yunus Akgün and Kaan Ayhan coming close to extending the lead. In the 51st minute, Akgün had a shot saved by Slowik after receiving a pass from Ayhan. Nine minutes later, Ayhan himself took a powerful shot from the right, but Slowik managed to deflect it for a corner.
Konyaspor had its moments too, especially in the 78th minute when Sallai made a dangerous cross from the right. Osimhen, ever alert in the box, attempted a clever finish, but Slowik made another crucial save to deny the Nigerian striker his second goal of the day.
Galatasaray Maintains Top Spot
With this win, Galatasaray continues to dominate the league, extending their lead with 54 points. Tümosan Konyaspor, on the other hand, remains stuck in 14th place with just 21 points, still looking for a way out of the relegation zone.
Next week, Galatasaray will travel to Gaziantep FK, while Konyaspor will host Sipay Bodrum FK in a crucial match for their survival.
