Reports: Galatasaray close to deal with Ter Stegen and has already sent first offer to FC Barcelona
Marc-André Ter Stegen is reportedly very close to ending his time as goalkeeper at FC Barcelona, according to Turkish sports outlet Fanatik. The German keeper has apparently reached a personal agreement with Galatasaray, who offered him a contract worth 5 million euros net per season (around 5.4 million dollars), a proposal the player is said to have accepted.
Club negotiations and contract situation
The deal isn’t done yet, since the hardest part is getting FC Barcelona and Galatasaray to agree on the transfer fee. Barça doesn’t want to let him go for free, as Ter Stegen still has a contract until 2028 and an annual salary over 20 million dollars. Still, insiders admit that his departure could ease the club’s finances, which have been hit hard by Financial Fair Play rules.
With the upcoming signing of Joan García, expected to be confirmed next week after activating his release clause, the goalkeeper spot at Barcelona is in transition. Plus, the presence of Wojciech Szczęsny on the roster leaves Ter Stegen with a smaller role in coach Hansi Flick’s plans. Although the keeper said on June 1 that he wanted to stay, recent moves have raised questions about his future.
Optimism in Turkey and ambitious project
While Ter Stegen remains quiet amid the rumors, there’s big optimism in Turkey, especially after the addition of players like Leroy Sané, showing Galatasaray is serious about competing at the European level.

For now, the ball is in FC Barcelona’s court, as they must decide whether to negotiate or keep their star, one of the last remaining players from the 2015 Champions League winning team. Ter Stegen’s future looks set to move away from Camp Nou, with Turkey possibly being his next stop.
