LIVE! Erzurumspor vs. Galatasaray in the Süper Lig on beIN SPORTS
The 2026-27 Süper Lig continues, and the defending champions have some unfinished business. Galatasaray visit Kazım Karabekir Stadium to face Erzurumspor FK in their first away match of the season after dropping two points in their opener.
The Turkish Football Federation has scheduled the match for Friday, August 21, at 9:30 p.m. local time in Turkey, with Çağdaş Altay appointed as the referee.
For Okan Buruk’s team, the objective is clear: secure their first victory of the campaign and prove that the opening-day draw was nothing more than an early setback
Galatasaray Don’t Want Another Scare
The defending champions’ season opener left plenty to analyze.
Galatasaray played out a 2-2 draw against Çorum FK at RAMS Park in a match where Victor Osimhen once again had to come to the rescue.
The Nigerian striker scored both goals for the Istanbul side, including a late equalizer after Çorum had managed to turn the match around.
After the game, Okan Buruk acknowledged that his team is still not at 100 percent and admitted his disappointment at dropping points at home to begin the season. The coach also noted that his players are still working their way into full condition after a particularly demanding summer.
Now comes their first opportunity to respond.
Galatasaray do not want to begin their title defense with two consecutive matches without a victory and will need to produce a much more solid performance, especially when they do not have the ball.
Osimhen Has Started on Fire
If there was one major positive from the opening match, it was Victor Osimhen.
The striker started the new campaign exactly where he left off last season: scoring goals. His brace prevented defeat against Çorum and once again confirmed his enormous importance within Buruk’s system.
With players such as Barış Alper Yılmaz, Yunus Akgün and Gabriel Sara operating around the penalty area, Galatasaray have more than enough attacking weapons to cause problems.
This time, however, they will need to combine that attacking threat with greater balance.
The champions created plenty of danger in their opener, but they also allowed a newly promoted side to find enough space to take the lead. In Erzurum, any lapse in concentration could make things difficult once again.
Erzurumspor Look to Make Home Advantage Count
Erzurumspor FK face one of those matches that was circled on the calendar from the moment they secured their return to the top flight.
Hosting the defending champions in front of their own supporters gives them the perfect opportunity to make a statement early in the season.
Kazım Karabekir Stadium will provide the setting, with Serkan Özbalta’s side looking to take advantage of the pressure surrounding their opponent.
On paper, Galatasaray have greater individual quality and squad depth, but the champions’ opening match already showed how quickly those differences can disappear if concentration drops over the course of 90 minutes.
For Erzurumspor, surviving the early pressure and preventing Osimhen from finding space around the penalty area could be crucial to staying in the match.
Galatasaray Go in Search of Their First Three Points
The pressure is on the visitors.
After dominating Turkish soccer last season, Galatasaray began the new campaign with the expectation of challenging for the championship once again.
A draw on Matchday 1 does not change that objective, but another match without a victory would begin to raise questions very early in the season.
That is why the trip to Erzurum represents much more than their first away match of the campaign.
It is their first opportunity to respond.
Erzurumspor FK want to take advantage of playing at home and secure one of the biggest results of the early season.
Galatasaray, with Osimhen once again leading the attack, are looking to finally put their first victory on the board.
