FC Porto takes on the surprise team of last season, Torreense, in Portugal’s official start to the season

What better way to celebrate Liga Portugal moving to a brand-new home at beIN SPORTS North America, than catching Saturday's traditional curtain-raiser to the new season, the Portuguese Super Cup Final.

This annual match-up sees the winners of the Liga Portugal and the Portuguese Cup from the previous season face off over one match, the weekend before the start of the domestic league campaigns.

FC Porto are the strong favorites in the clash having won the league title last season with six-point advantage over Sporting FC. The Portuguese giants are looking to lift the trophy for a record 25th time before turning their attention to winning back-to-back league titles for the first time since 2013.

Porto’s opponents will be the surprise package of last season, Torreense, who play in the second tier of the Portuguese League but triumphed in the cup final with a final victory over Sporting CP.
