(VIDEO) Declan Rice’s Double Free Kick Wonder Goals with Arsenal to Knock Out Real Madrid in the Champions League
Declan Rice made his mark in UEFA Champions League history with an unforgettable night, scoring a stunning double. What makes this achievement even more special is that both goals were from free kicks, and both came against Real Madrid in the Champions League Quarterfinals.
First Goal: An Incredible Free Kick
The first goal from Declan Rice came in the 58th minute of the match, a spectacular strike that went past Thibaut Courtois with a unique spin on the ball. The Real Madrid goalkeeper couldn't reach it, and thus the celebration began at Emirates Stadium.
Second Goal: More Free Kick Magic
But the lightning struck twice in the same place. Just 12 minutes later, in the 70th minute, Declan Rice stepped up for another free kick, this time from almost three-quarters of the way up the field. He looked up, aimed, and sent the ball into the top right corner past Courtois, scoring his double.
A Historic Record in the Champions League
With these two goals, Declan Rice became the first player in UEFA Champions League history to score two direct free kicks in a single knockout-stage match, and he did it against none other than the tournament's most successful club, Real Madrid.
