A Warning for Luis Enrique and PSG Ahead of The Champions League Final
Blaise Matuidi, former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, had nothing but praise for current head coach Luis Enrique, but he also issued a clear warning ahead of the upcoming Champions League final against a formidable opponent: Inter Milan.
The French giants secured their spot in the tournament’s final by defeating Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate. This result is seen as further confirmation of Luis Enrique’s successful rebuilding project, after taking charge during a difficult transition period marked by the departure of key players like Kylian Mbappé.
Despite losing their biggest star to Real Madrid, Enrique’s project hasn’t lost momentum. Smart signings such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, and Vitinha have proven crucial, as PSG now places greater emphasis on team play rather than individual brilliance.
“He already proved it with Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Now he’s showing it again at PSG. He’s a top-class manager who knows how to build a squad,” said Matuidi, highlighting the coach’s tactical skills and long-term vision.
A ruthless opponent: Inter pose a serious threat to PSG
But it wasn’t all praise. The World Cup winner also issued a firm warning about Inter Milan, who made it to the final after an impressive win over Barcelona.
“Inter are a very well-organized team with strong attacking power. What they did to Barça shows just how dangerous they are,” Matuidi stated. He added that he expects “a great football match” at Wembley, although he’s hopeful PSG will finally lift their first-ever Champions League trophy.
With the Ligue 1 title already secured, Luis Enrique now has the luxury to rotate his squad in the final league match against Auxerre, allowing his key players to rest and focus on the two remaining objectives: the Coupe de France final on May 24 and the Champions League showdown on May 31.
Can Luis Enrique win a second treble in his coaching career? Paris is dreaming, but the final chapter has yet to be written.
