Arne Slot Praises PSG: "It’s the Most Complete Team We Have Faced"
"PSG has improved a lot in the last two or three months, and those games were played away from home. I watched both and they’ve improved significantly. That’s their opinion, and I can’t influence how they feel, whether it’s true or not. I hope they have a different opinion tomorrow," said Slot.
Arne Slot, manager of Liverpool, acknowledged on Monday, ahead of the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16, that his opponent is the "most complete team" they have faced this season.
Slot Confident of Having More Possession, but Not Underestimating PSG
The Dutch coach responded to rumors suggesting that several players from PSG had thought, after the first-leg match, that their encounters with Arsenal and Bayern Munich were more challenging than facing Liverpool.
"For me, this is the most complete team we have faced so far. I know we’ve played against **Arsenal, **Real Madrid, Manchester City, but the quality of PSG, probably the wealthiest team in the world, along with their great coach, makes them play in a way that isn’t easy, with great teamwork from everyone," said the former coach of Alkmaar and Feyenoord, referring to his counterpart, Luis Enrique Martínez.
Liverpool Needs More Possession to Avoid PSG’s Pressure
Regarding the differences from the first-leg match, Slot is confident about having more possession, though he did not dismiss the danger of PSG, considering the intensity with which their players try to win the ball back.
"In the 87th minute, we played long, and they found us open. When I watched the game again, I saw several moments where we would have had chances if we had noticed that. They tired us more than I would have liked, with constant pressure on us, and if we don’t have the ball, we get more tired; that’s why we need more possession and hope they open up," Slot explained.
He also disagreed with those who said that Liverpool played "a bad game," as it "doesn’t give enough credit to PSG for what they did."
Liverpool Will Defend 0-1 Lead in Paris Against a Very Tough PSG
Liverpool will defend their 0-1 lead on Tuesday from last week’s match, where the Parisians had 28 shots, forced nine saves from Alisson Becker, and left scoreless, while conceding a goal in the final minutes from Harvey Elliott.
