Barcelona Pays tribute to Carles Miñarro with a Moment of Silence before The Match against Benfica
FC Barcelona held an emotional moment of silence in memory of Dr. Carles Miñarro, the first-team doctor, before the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Benfica. Miñarro unexpectedly passed away last Saturday while with the team, causing deep sorrow within the club.
As part of the tribute, the Barcelona players wore black armbands, and 29 seconds of the song El cant dels ocells were played in the stadium—a symbolic gesture to honor the doctor who had been part of the team's recent successes.
Head coach Hansi Flick stated before the match that the team would play for Miñarro. "Carles was a great person and a great professional. We will miss him, but we will play this match for him," said the German coach.
The locker room is still processing the loss
The squad is still coming to terms with the loss, and out of respect, the players were excused from the press conference. However, they attended the wake to bid farewell to their colleague. Additionally, the club received support from Real Madrid, which sent Emilio Butragueño to personally convey the club’s condolences.

With the motivation to dedicate the victory to Miñarro, Barcelona stepped onto the field determined to secure their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
