Bellingham and Rüdiger reportedly clash in training just hours before Real Madrid’s Champions League showdown
Following their heavy 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, things are heating up at Real Madrid — and not just because of the scoreline. According to journalist Edu Aguirre on El Chiringuito, Jude Bellingham and Antonio Rüdiger were involved in a heated clash during training on Friday, with teammates having to step in and break it up.
A dust-up that almost turned physical
The incident reportedly happened during a training match. Aguirre said it started with a rough challenge, some insults exchanged, and rising tempers that nearly led to punches being thrown. “There was serious tension — they squared up, threw a few words at each other, and teammates had to separate them. It ended with a handshake, but it shows just how high the pressure is in the dressing room,” he explained.
This episode highlights the fragile mood within the squad. Even though Madrid are still fighting on all fronts, the pressure heading into the second leg against Arsenal is through the roof. Bellingham already showed signs of frustration during the first leg in London, shaking his head when Ancelotti gave him instructions — and it’s not the first time he’s clashed with teammates either.
Club downplays the situation
Inside the club, they're trying to downplay the situation, calling it “just a normal incident in a competitive squad.” But there's no denying how tense things are right now — between the need to turn things around in Europe, the title race in LaLiga, and the upcoming Copa del Rey final, Ancelotti and his team are under massive pressure.
This Wednesday, the Santiago Bernabéu will host a do-or-die battle. The team needs a historic comeback to stay alive in the Champions League, and they’ll have to prove that, despite internal drama, they’re still united. Tensions have already exploded in Valdebebas — now the real test is whether they can turn that fire into magic on the pitch.
