David Villa Praises Lewandowski and Yamal
Former FC Barcelona striker David Villa has expressed his admiration for Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. Villa, who played for Barça between 2010 and 2013, highlighted the Polish striker's outstanding performance this season and the exceptional talent of the young Spanish prodigy.
Villa fondly recalled his time at the club, where he formed a lethal trio alongside Lionel Messi and Pedro Rodríguez. “It was incredible; we won almost everything in my first season,” he stated. Despite retiring five years ago, he remains connected to football through his DV7 Group company and his role as an ambassador for LaLiga, UEFA, and FIFA.
The former Spanish international praised Lewandowski’s goal-scoring ability, as he currently leads the LaLiga scoring charts with 20 goals and has netted nine times in the Champions League. “I don’t focus on age; he is a beast. He maintains an incredible physical condition, and it shows in his performances,” Villa remarked.
Yamal, a talent without limits
In addition to praising Lewandowski, Villa showered Lamine Yamal with compliments, stating that the youngster could define an era in football. “He is an extraordinary player. He proves on the pitch that he has no limits, although he needs to be protected because he is only 17 years old,” he noted.
Tonight, Villa will closely follow Lewandowski and Yamal, who will look to shine in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Benfica, aiming to secure Barcelona’s place in the quarter-finals.
