Donnarumma Redeems Himself As the Great Hero of PSG's Champions League Qualification
Donnarumma was the great hero of PSG's Champions League qualification over Liverpool after saving two penalties
Since his arrival at the Parc des Princes in the summer of 2021 as a free agent, Donnarumma had not been up to the level expected of a team that demands to be a champion on the big nights in the Champions League. However, the Italian goalkeeper managed to redeem himself by becoming the great hero of PSG's qualification in the Champions League after coming back against Liverpool at Anfield.

Donnarumma's incredible record in penalty shootouts
Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, Dembélé, and Doué did their part of the job. But Donnarumma's performance in the penalty shootout will be remembered for many years by PSG fans after saving two consecutive shots from Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones, which allowed PSG to emerge victorious without needing to take a final penalty.
Moreover, it was striking that before the penalty shootout began, cameras captured him leaving the locker room. "I had to pee," said Donnarumma sarcastically, admitting, "I had something prepared with my coach." There's no doubt that he is a specialist when it comes to penalty shootouts, as he has come out victorious in six... of the seven he has faced in his career.
“I always remember to smile, give my best, and work for the team”
After the mistakes made in past editions, old ghosts came back to haunt Donnarumma's mind with the goal conceded in the first-leg match from Liverpool's only shot on target. But after being named the MVP of the match against Liverpool, making the difference in the penalty shootout, Donnarumma has finally healed his Champions League wounds.
"In the first leg, we conceded a shot and a goal. It seemed like my fault. But I always remember to smile, give my best, and work for the team," said Donnarumma, adding, "I'm happy with the team's performance because we knew how to suffer" and “coming to this stadium is not easy at all, it's always very tough, especially after coming back from the loss in the first leg.”
