Mbappé: Suspension, Invisible Against Arsenal and Awaiting Injury Assessment
Kylian Mbappé is not going through his best moment at Real Madrid. Following the team’s elimination at the hands of Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals, the French striker is now also dealing with an ankle injury and a suspension that will sideline him for the club’s upcoming league match. The forward, who was expected to shine in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, ended up leaving the pitch early after an unfortunate clash with Declan Rice.
A sprain that raises concern
In the 75th minute, Mbappé limped off the field visibly in pain, unable to put weight on his right leg. At the time, the score was tied 1-1, but the tie was already out of reach with a 4-1 aggregate lead for the English side. The injury occurred during a physical challenge with Rice, where Mbappé’s ankle twisted awkwardly.

According to sources close to the club, an initial medical evaluation revealed a mild sprain. However, he will undergo further tests on Friday to determine the full extent of the injury. Although the issue does not seem serious, uncertainty still surrounds the star’s recovery timeline.
He will miss the next LaLiga match
Regardless of the final diagnosis, Mbappé is set to miss Real Madrid’s upcoming LaLiga EA Sports fixture against Athletic Club this Sunday. The Frenchman must serve a one-match suspension after receiving a red card in the previous league match against Alavés.
His return will depend heavily on the results of the medical tests. If his recovery progresses well, the former Paris Saint-Germain player could be back in action on April 23 for the away match against Getafe, or ideally, be fit in time for the Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona, scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
In the meantime, Madrid fans await a swift recovery from their star forward, hoping he can lead them through a demanding season finale with a domestic title still up for grabs.
