This Stadium Will Host the 2027 Champions League Final
UEFA continues planning for the future and has reportedly chosen the venue for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League final. While an official announcement is yet to be made, a high-ranking official has already revealed which stadium will host the biggest club match in European football.
Spain to Host the Champions League Final Again
According to Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atlético de Madrid, has been selected as the venue for the 2027 Champions League final. Louzán confirmed the news during his visit to the expansion works at Estadio La Cartuja in Seville, which will host the Copa del Rey final on April 26, 2025.
💬 "Spain, in addition to hosting this year's Europa League final at the Nuevo San Mamés, is already confirmed as the host of the 2027 Champions League final at the Metropolitano," said Louzán.
The Atlético Madrid stadium won the bid over Baku, Azerbaijan, which was also a contender to host the final. This means the Metropolitano will once again serve as the grand stage for the Champions League final, having previously hosted the 2019 final, where Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-0, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.
Spain’s Ambition to Host More Major Finals
During his statement, Louzán also expressed his desire for other Spanish cities, such as Seville, to host future European finals, emphasizing Spain’s strong infrastructure and hospitality capacity for large-scale events.
💬 "Why not request, with the support of the Spanish Federation, for Seville to host an upcoming European final? We will propose this to UEFA because we have the right venue and city for it," he added.
While no specific dates or competitions were mentioned, Louzán's remarks highlight Spain’s continued commitment to positioning itself as a key destination for European football’s biggest events.
