Thuram in Race To Be Ready for Barcelona Clash
Marcus Thuram is stepping up his recovery process and could be Inter Milan’s big addition ahead of their Champions League semifinal first leg against Barcelona.
French striker Marcus Thuram has accelerated his recovery process and on Monday completed a high-intensity solo training session, aiming to be fit for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Barcelona.
Thuram, who suffered a left adductor injury on April 18, missed Inter Milan's last three matches. However, the club remains optimistic about his potential return. "He is recovering little by little, but I’m very optimistic. I hope and believe he can make it for Wednesday," said Giuseppe Marotta, president of Inter, in an interview with DAZN ahead of the match against Roma.
Key Training Session for His Comeback
On Monday, Thuram carried out a high-intensity individual training session, according to local media reports. The plan set by Simone Inzaghi's coaching staff is to integrate him into group training on Tuesday, potentially clearing him to travel to Barcelona and be part of the squad for the clash at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
The potential return of Thuram is a major boost for Inter, which has struggled offensively during his absence. The team lost all three matches without scoring while relying on Joaquín Correa, Mehdi Taremi, and Marko Arnautovic to fill in up front.
A Vital Partnership With Lautaro
Beyond his individual talent, Thuram plays a crucial role thanks to his tactical connection with captain Lautaro Martínez, who remains Inter's main attacking reference. Their chemistry on the pitch has been instrumental in the team's strong campaign, and Thuram's potential return could be decisive for their ambitions against Barcelona.
All eyes will be on Thuram's condition in the coming hours as Inter hopes to line up its strongest possible squad for a semifinal that promises high intensity and drama.
