What injury does Ferland Mendy have and how long will he be out with Real Madrid?
Ferland Mendy, the left-back for Real Madrid, will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to a muscle injury in his left leg that he picked up during the Champions League derby against Atlético de Madrid this Wednesday.
Injury Diagnosis
"After the tests conducted today on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the left hamstring," the club said in a statement on their website. This statement, confirmed by EFE through club sources, indicates that the player will be out for three to four weeks. The club has already started planning his recovery.
Possible Timelines and Missed Matches
In the best-case scenario, Ferland Mendy will miss just three matches: one in La Liga against Villarreal and Leganés, and another in the Copa del Rey against Real Sociedad, as it coincides with the international break. He is expected to be available for the Champions League quarterfinals against Arsenal.
However, if his recovery takes a month, Mendy will only be able to play in the second leg of the quarterfinals. This is the third muscle issue Mendy has had this season, and in the previous two, he was out for 11 and 12 days, respectively.
