Will Szczesny renew with Barcelona?
Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny (Warsaw, 1990) stated that he is "open to everything" regarding his future at Barcelona, where he arrived due to the injury of German Marc-André ter Stegen and has since become the starting goalkeeper.
The evolution of his future at Barcelona
In an interview for 'Barça One', Szczesny admitted that if he had been asked at the beginning of the season about his plans, he would have probably said that he would leave Barcelona in June, but now his perspective has changed. "My family is happy, my son loves his school, my wife loves being here... I’m open to everything," said the goalkeeper.
His relationship with Ter Stegen
Szczesny explained that he deals with stress from new situations in football through meditation and shared a "fun situation" with Ter Stegen. "He told me that his son had entered the locker room before the match while I was meditating and asked why I was sleeping," said 'Tek', as he is known within the team. The Polish goalkeeper mentioned that he meditates both in the locker room and sometimes on the bus, "on the way to the match," and emphasized that he doesn’t need silence to practice it.
Regarding his relationship with Ter Stegen, Szczesny said it has been "very helpful" and recalled that before signing with Barcelona, the German goalkeeper sent him a message offering to help with anything he needed. "I’m very happy because his recovery is going very well. There is no competition between us because right now there can’t be, and I just hope he returns and helps us as soon as possible," said Szczesny.
