Robert Lewandowski Sends Champions League Warning: Barcelona Has Already Learned From Its Mistakes
Robert Lewandowski sent a clear message about Barcelona’s approach to the Champions League: the team has learned from past mistakes and cannot afford complacency again. The Polish striker also spoke about a potential final against Real Madrid and recalled the night that changed his career.
Robert Lewandowski sends Champions League warning: “We learned the lesson”
FC Barcelona wants to become a major force in Europe again, and one of its leaders has made that crystal clear. Robert Lewandowski delivered a strong message about the team’s mentality in the Champions League: there is no room to repeat the mistakes of the past.
During a conversation with Romário on the Brazilian legend’s YouTube channel, the Polish striker spoke openly about Barcelona’s European ambitions. For Lewandowski, the biggest takeaway is simple: every Champions League match can define an entire season.
“Winning the Champions League is never easy,” the Barcelona forward explained. And while the club believes in the quality of its squad and the new generation coming through, the striker insists that focus must be absolute from the first minute of every knockout tie.
According to Lewandowski, the team has carefully analyzed what happened in recent seasons and understands that any mistake in this competition can be extremely costly.
The lesson from last season
One of the most revealing parts of his comments came when the striker spoke about the lessons learned from last season and recent knockout games.
According to Lewandowski, Barcelona realized that waiting for the second leg can be a fatal mistake in the Champions League.
“We learned from last season and from the Copa del Rey match. We know we can’t wait for the second game if we want to stay in the Champions League,” he explained.
That’s why Lewandowski insists the key will be maintaining intensity throughout the entire tie, not just during specific moments.
Is Barcelona a Champions League favorite?
Although Barcelona has reignited excitement among its fans, Lewandowski chose a cautious tone when asked whether the club should be considered the main favorite to win the competition.
The Polish striker did not hesitate to include the team among the contenders, but he made it clear that the level of competition in Europe is incredibly high.
“Yes, Barcelona is one of the favorites, but there are very strong teams,” he said.
Among the most dangerous rivals, he mentioned Bayern Munich and Arsenal, two clubs that, in his view, also have the quality to lift the trophy.

The dream of a Barcelona vs Real Madrid final
One of the most striking moments of the interview came when Romário asked a question that would excite any football fan: a Champions League final between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Lewandowski’s reaction was immediate.
“It would be one of the greatest matches in football history,” he said.
The conversation also left room for nostalgia. Lewandowski recalled the players who inspired him growing up, including Thierry Henry, Roberto Baggio, and Alan Shearer, legends who influenced the way he approached the game.
He also spoke about the coaches who shaped his career. Lewandowski highlighted Jürgen Klopp, whom he described as almost a father figure during his time at Borussia Dortmund. He also praised the tactical impact of Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, as well as the confidence that Carlo Ancelotti instilled in his players.
Finally, Lewandowski reflected on one of the most iconic nights of his career: the four goals he scored against Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals in 2013 with Borussia Dortmund. According to the striker, that was the first moment he truly realized he had achieved something historic.
