Ronald Araujo Names Barcelona Among the Favorites to Win the Champions League

Ronald Araujo has not lost sight of Barcelona. The Uruguayan defender, currently on loan at Liverpool, spoke about his former team’s impressive form and said the Catalan club should be considered one of the favorites to lift the Champions League trophy this season.

After featuring in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid at Anfield, Araujo was asked about the Spanish side’s chances in Europe. His response made it clear that he has complete confidence in the potential of Hansi Flick’s team.

“Of course, Barcelona are one of the favorites to win the Champions League. They’re flying,” the Uruguayan center back said.

Araujo Is Still Keeping a Close Eye on Barcelona

Despite being away from Catalonia, Araujo acknowledged that he continues to follow the results and performances of his former teammates. The defender also said he is happy to see the club enjoying such a strong run.

“I’m following them. I’m very happy for my teammates. They have a great team. I’m always supporting them, and I’m really delighted with what they’re experiencing right now,” he explained.

His comments come after Barcelona’s dominant European opener against Feyenoord, a match in which players such as Raphinha once again showcased the attacking strength of Hansi Flick’s side.

Araujo Is Also Shining With Liverpool

While continuing to follow Barcelona, Araujo is beginning to play an important role for Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool. The Uruguayan delivered an impressive performance against Atlético Madrid and was directly involved in one of the decisive plays of the match.

Inside the penalty area, the defender produced a clever backheel to keep the move alive before Dominik Szoboszlai beat Jan Oblak, playing an important role in the English side’s victory.
