Sterling: I still have a big part to play at Arsenal
Arsenal drew 2-2 with PSV on Wednesday, securing a 9-3 aggregate victory in the Champions League last 16 after their 7-1 win last week.
On-loan winger Raheem Sterling has suggested there is plenty more to come from him at Arsenal, saying he has a big part to play in the end-of-season shake-up after helping them qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.
Arsenal drew 2-2 at home to PSV in the second leg of their last-16 tie, securing a 9-3 aggregate victory having won 7-1 in Eindhoven last week, setting up a last-eight meeting with Real Madrid.
Sterling played the entire match and contributed both assists for Arsenal's goals, taking his tally to four assists and one goal in all competitions this season, while also being named Player of the Match.
"It was nice to be out there and contribute to the team," Sterling told TNT Sports.
"I know what I am capable of. You just want to be playing. You are at a top club with top players and you just have to wait for your moment, and that is what I am doing.
"I am still faithful that I have still got a big part to play. You can only control what you can control.
"I have not had as many minutes as I would have liked but I have had the opportunities.
"It is down to myself to keep knocking at the door. I believe within myself that I have a lot to play here, whether it is 10 minutes, 45 or a start. I just need to be ready and try and help the team as much as possible.
"Yes we are a few points behind [in the Premier League] but there are all different circumstances [for that]. I think the boys have done really well and in the last bit of the season [are ready] to give it a right push."
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, was pleased for the opportunity to give some minutes to fringe players, who are either recovering from injuries or had not been in his first-team plans.
While he was pleased that his side navigated the tie with minimal fuss, Arteta was disappointed not to win at home despite having led twice.
"We started well and scored the goal. We were ahead twice but unfortunately we didn't manage to win the game," he said.
"You could see in the second half we looked tired, we were late for a few things and we lacked a little bit of cohesion, making so many changes. Overall we are very happy because we are where we want to be.
"There were some players that deserved some football and I was very happy to give them a chance. There were a lot of things to improve."
