'This team has fighting in its DNA', says Inzaghi after Inter reach Champions League quarter-finals
Serie A leaders Inter remain on course for a potential treble, after progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Simone Inzaghi says Inter have "fighting in its DNA" after booking their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with victory over Feyenoord.
Marcus Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu were on target in a 2-1 win for the Nerazzuri at San Siro, which secured a 4-1 aggregate success and set up a quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.
Top of Serie A and into the Coppa Italia semi-finals, where they will play city rivals AC Milan over the two legs, Inter remain on course for a potential treble this season.
And Inzaghi, who celebrated his 200th match in charge on Tuesday, is looking forward to having another crack at Bayern, having lost each of his four previous matches against them as a coach.
"It'll be a difficult game, I've come up against them with Inter and Lazio," he told Inter TV. "They're a solid and well-drilled side, but we will play to our strengths, as we have done until now.
"I know what coaching Inter means. There's been a lot of joy, some disappointment, but we always think about honouring all the competitions and matches in the best way.
"This team has fighting in its DNA, competing on all fronts. We know that it takes a huge effort, which is why the players deserve to be embraced and celebrated, just like our fans always do."
Inter have only conceded two goals in this season's Champions League, while they have now progressed from each of their last 10 major European knockout ties when winning the first leg.
And Thuram, who scored in both legs against Feyenoord despite struggling with an ankle problem, believes the Nerazzurri should fear no-one.
"All the teams are beatable," the forward said. "It'll be difficult against Bayern, but we'll see.
"When you're at Inter, you play every game to win and if you win all of them, great things happen at the end of the year. It's not a question about believing or not believing.
"My ankle has been giving me a few problems for a month, but I'm playing through it. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's better, but I'm not at 100%."
