The English Talent Rooney Ranks Above Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer
The Manchester United legend shared his opinion on who is currently the best player in England. Does it surprise you?
Wayne Rooney, Manchester United legend and current Plymouth manager, claimed that the best player in England is neither Cole Palmer nor Jude Bellingham.
The former player, now coaching Plymouth in the Championship (England's second division), spoke on the sports radio "talkSport" about Lee Carsley's latest squad, with which England will face Greece and Finland in the Nations League.
"For me, the best is Phil Foden. I know he hasn’t played much this season at Manchester City, but at his best, he’s the best footballer in England," Rooney said.
"Cole Palmer has been sensational since he moved to Chelsea, and you can also talk about everything Jude Bellingham is doing at Real Madrid, but for me, the best is Foden. I really enjoy watching him," he added.
Carsley, England's interim coach, will have to decide which of the three players to leave out now that they are all available—Bellingham missed the last two matches due to injury. Palmer was the one sacrificed in the Euros, where he mostly came off the bench, including in the final, where he scored the equalizer against Spain.
